These landmarks were crossed in three different road trips:
I. Florida -> New Orleans -> New Mexico -> Colorado -> Utah -> Rock Springs. July 2011.
Rio Grande Gorge desde el Gorge Bridge (fifth highest bridge in the United States @650 feet). New Mexico
Cliff Palace @ Mesa Verde National Park. The largest cliff dwelling in North America. Built by the Native American Ancient Pueblo Peoples. Dendrochronology indicates that construction of Cliff Palace was continuous from 1190-1260 CE.
Shafer Trail Road in Canyonlands (http://www.skianything.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/562011-Canyonalnds-Viewpoint.jpg) and Long Canyon Road and its Fallen Giant Rock.
Landscape Arch, Arches National Park
II. Rock Springs ->Colorado->Kansas->Arkansas->Tennessee->Alabama->Florida. October 2011.
We took the Old Fall River Road to do part of the Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the United States; starting in the Alpine Visitor Center and ending in Fall River Road. We passed where the road reaches its maximum elevation of 12,183 ft (3,713 m). After that, in the Big Thompson Canyon Road, we met a thunderstorm that was causing amazing waterfalls in the whole canyon and eventually rock slides bringing a scary experience. Not as scary as Shafer Trail Road in Canyonlands or Long Canyon Road and its Fallen Giant Rock.
