Rodeo

  Then

Now

Lionhead rabbits are one of the newer breeds of domestic rabbits in the United States. They have a long wool mane encircling the head, compact upright body type, and short well-furred ears.

Rodeo was born un cinco de mayo somewhere in WY? I met him on July 2012 in Green River while I was traveling. We spent his first year in southwest FL and now we live in La Mesa, CA.

3 reasons why I think Rodeo is the happiest:

1. DIET. Rodeo loves hay. He has a basket full 24 hours a day. Hay promotes healthy teeth and gastrointestinal tract.
*Avoid the use of alfalfa hay as the primary source of hay because is very high in calories and protein, far from the average house rabbit needs. Alfalfa is not a grass, but rather a legume.
Also he gets his bowl of pellets every morning.
*Most people think that rabbit pellets were especially formulated for their pet rabbit, but this is not the case. Pellets were originally formulated as a convenient and economical way to promote quick growth and weight gain in commercial rabbits raised for food and fur.
And lots and lots of water in a bowl.
*A water bowl is undoubtedly a more natural way to drink and many rabbits will use them in preference to a bottle.
2. his two story condo. one bedroom, one bathroom, two tunnels, a ramp, some toys that he does not used too much, and apple sticks that I wish he chew more.
3. he is not restrained by the confines of his condo. His doorless cage allows him to freely get in and out every time he wants.
*we close it only at night.

Rabbits are strict vegetarians but that doesn't mean they can consume all vegetation. There are several common food items that are toxic to rabbits. A rabbit should be kept away from tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, and sweet potato plants (Genus Solanum).

I had these three in my garden and I was having a hard time to keep Rodeo away from the eggplant.

Can you see him?

Now you can

I stopped him right away and he is fine.
